Botschaft der Polinnen*

Since PiS took over power in Poland, it has taken over both institutions and organs of power, dismantling the tripartite division of power, it has taken over all state offices, state-owned companies and of course state offices abroad – including embassies. The Polish ambassador in Berlin not only did not represent half of the society, but also seemed to be very critical of the authorities, media and values in the country where he had worked and lived. That is why I decided to open our own embassy – Botschaft der Polinnen*.

Botschaft der Polinnen* (Polish Women’s Embassy / Message) is a place for feminist meetings, exhibitions and discussions related to politics, environment and engaged art. All people are and can be ambassadors, regardless of gender, nationality or beliefs. Botschaft der Polinnen* is housed in a mobile spatial installation, created from a frame structure of 2x2x2m and lace walls. The Botschaft is a temporary structure, it appears in different places in Germany and other countries, has no permanent address. It is a development and continuation of my art project “Polish Wife”.

Official opening of the Botschaft was on 22nd June 2020, at the Haus der Statistik, Berlin.
