Quest for Women*
Quest for Women* is an outdoor city game where participants explore the city to solve various challenges and tasks revolving around inspiring women* of Kreuzberg.
History is made up of wars and conflicts, of people's biographies. Women* are forgotten and ignored. Memorial plaques in Kreuzberg are almost exclusively dedicated to men. There is a lack of women* in urban space. They don't have as many monuments as men, they don't have as many street or square names. Actively learning about the neighborhood and the women* who lived and worked here increases awareness and knowledge of the missing half of history - the women* who are often erased from the annals. Learning about local history helps overcome oblivion and contributes to building local communities and belonging. This in turn leads to the community getting to know each other better and less hostility and fear of "strangers".
For the search, we have selected 12 extraordinary women* who lived or worked in Kreuzberg, where their traces can be found. Two of them live and work in the cultural sector in Kreuzberg.
Each participant receives a map of the Kreuzberg district on which 12 different quest points about 12 women* are marked. Each point is a puzzle: a letter that must be found in a specific place and written in the corresponding box next to the woman's biography. The numbered letters indicate the word - the solution to the quest.
Game premiere: September 16, 2023 | 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
