AND THE WALL WILL FALL
Solidarity and the Aesthetics of Revolution
The project "And the Walls Will Fall / Solidarity and the Aesthetics of Revolution" seeks an aesthetic approach to the history of the famous Polish resistance movement, which began in 1980 at the Lenin Shipyard in Gdansk and heralded the beginning of the end of communism in Europe. As a supporting program for "Write the Wall" and in the 20th year after the fall of the Berlin Wall, it also stands for the importance of the movement, which has left not only political traces, but also artistic ones.
The project includes an exhibition with specially produced works by German and Polish artists, a limited series of screen-printed posters and three events in October at which experts will examine the effects of Solidarity on the music, film and visual aesthetics of protest movements.
