Longina Poterek-Krenz & Jerzy Krenz
My parents
Both my parents, Longina Poterek-Krenz and Jerzy Krenz were artists. Both studied interior design and exposition at the Art Academy in Poznań (at the time called PWSSP), and that is where they met.
Longina was an artist who touched on people's themes, created art about women and nature. She was precise and hard-working. She created series and cycles of artistic works. She drew a lot, painted and created works from textiles.Jerzy was a total conceptual artist. She was hard-working, but he didn't paint much, he came up with concepts.
I am somewhere in the middle. Our home was full of art, our life and its rhythm were determined by art, to which everything was subordinated.
In the late 1970s, my Jerzy opened Krenz Art Studio, devoted to interior design and later to conservation work and creation of historical lighting for historical interiors. Everything is hand-made - from drawing, through models and castings to final works. They created lamps, chandeliers and candlesticks and other brass objects, in historical style. They restored antiques, created copies. Many churches and palaces in Poland have their works.
Part of their life they lived in Puszczykowo, where they had their workshop and the garden.
They left all too soon.
