PUSZCZYKOWIANKI - BOHATERKI MINIONYCH DNI

Puszczykowo (Poznań district) is a city with extraordinary landscape and natural values, a rich history, significant cultural and architectural heritage, located in the buffer zone of the Wielkopolska National Park. Puszczykowo is also a pantheon of extraordinary figures representing various fields of culture, science, social and patriotic activism - including women who have been silenced in history. They are the heroines of this project. Reminding them of their achievements not only gives them due respect, but also strengthens the cultural awareness of the inhabitants.

The history of women and the local identity of Puszczykowo are an important element of the common cultural heritage, which is in line with the values of the European Union, such as equality, diversity and respect for human rights. Reminding them of the achievements of women and their contribution to the development of the local community is not only an act of historical justice, but also a manifestation of the European ideal of equal rights.

As part of the project, we are naming trees on Poznańska Street (known as Grobla) after Puszczykowo women to symbolically and ecologically honor their achievements and also emphasize the role of nature - the green heritage of the city.

We have also prepared a city game - to set off on a journey around the city and discover the stories of extraordinary women, learn about their extraordinary passions, dreams and ideas that they championed. During the game, participants wander the streets of Puszczykowo, visiting places related to the lives and activities of local heroines, discovering fragments of their life stories, learning about their work, social involvement and contribution to the development of the city.

Presentation of the project

Presentation of the project PUSZCZYKOWIANKI - HEROINES OF PAST DAYS at Willa Mimoza. Twenty portraits of exceptional women who once lived and worked in Puszczykowo were captured in presentations discussed by our team. The meeting was also an opportunity to submit to the Mayor of Puszczykowo, Mr. Andrzej Balcerek, an application to create a symbolic Alley of Puszczykowianki on Grobla Street and to include women from the list when naming various objects and public spaces, in order to commemorate LOCAL HEROINES in this way. The program included a concert by the band Good Staff.

Aleja Puszczykowianek

The finale of the project "Puszczykowianki, heroines of past days" and the ceremonial opening of the Aleja Puszczykowianek, 10.11.2024, at high noon. Twenty women received their trees, including my beloved mother, artist Longina Poterek-Krenz (1946-2019).

The engaged and attentive community of Puszczykowo created biographies of these extraordinary women with us. This is how the gallery of women was created, which will continue to be developed to emphasize the role of women in the development of the city and maintaining its extraordinary character. In this way, we commemorate women, integrate the local community and protect trees. After all, no one will cut down Maria or Jadwiga.
